What is therapy/ counseling?

The terms counseling and therapy are often used interchangeably. Generally speaking, counseling tends to be focused on one specific issue and considered a short-term treatment.  Therapy tends to treat a broader range of issues and more complex problems. It can be a long-term treatment.

No matter what term you use, you may learn coping techniques and problem-solve the issue together.  Therapy is an interactive and interpersonal process  between the therapist and an individual, a couple, or family members in which they explore concerns, problems, and fears. Therapists do not tell you what to do but can be a guide in exploring your options. Therapists can teach you alternative healthier coping techniques to manage the "yuck" in your life. Therapy does NOT take away your past experiences but can help you manage the overwhelm feelings, thoughts, and body sensations from the impact of these experiences.

The type of therapy that is utilized by Revive Therapy: When Healing Begins does not involve rehashing your history in details. The therapist only needs to know a few details to assist you on your healing journey.
